Bubba, the Scouts, and their First Aid Mishaps

Ponder these scenarios and look in your Scout Books for the answers.

1.       Carson is walking along a trail whistling zippidee doo da all day long.  Bubba his friend is in the bushes chasing bunny rabbits.  Suddenly a coyote jumps out of the bushes and growls at Carson.  He is extremely mad and foaming at the mouth.  Suddenly he bites him on the arm.  Its bleeding badly.  What do you do?  What would you do if a stick punctured his arm instead?

2.       Chase is in his house eating pancakes and eggs.  While whining that he does not have enough syrup for his pancakes suddenly he hears  a scream.  He runs outside and the shed is on fire.  His sister is inside and he was able to pull her out but her hair has been burned off the top of her head.  How do you treat her wounds?  What degree of burn would this be?

3.       Kaleb and his best friend Bubba decide  to steal his brother's 4-wheeler.  They both jump on and take off toward the desert.  It is 100 degrees outside and in their excited and silly states of mind they forgot to take something to drink.  Also because he was so crazy he forgot to see if there was enough gas for the adventure and then when they were about to turn around to go home they ran out of gas.  They are 10 miles from home and Bubba's face is red and he is having a hard time breathing.  What is wrong with him?  How do you treat him?

4.       Ben, on his hike to the Wind Caves, sees a very hot chick walking by.  Before he can say "Hiya cutie!" and in his extreme excitement, his breath starts coming very rapidly.  He cannot control it.  What is this called?   What do you do?

5.       Andrew has been invited to go sledding with some really unusual people.  As he is sailing downhill with a big smile on his face he bulldozes one of their dogs with his sled.  In their anger they push him down the hill and he falls into a streambed and he gets soaked.  What could possibly happen to him and what should you do?

6.       Dalton finds a leaf blower in a shed.  Bubba is with him and tells him to blow it in his face.  Dalton does and all of a sudden Bubba's eyes are watering and he can't open them.  What happened?  How do you help him?

7.       Antonio is fishing with Bubba.  Bubba is wildly casting his lure and catches Antonio in the hand.  It catches Antonio off guard and he steps on a nail.  He grabs the fence next to him to pull his foot off the nail and gets a splinter.  How do you treat each of these conditions?  Should Antonio go to the hospital?

What is shock and how do you treat it?  Can it happen in any of the cases above?
