Scout Campout Big Eddy May 2019

This campout was in May and this place is called by locals "The Big Eddy".  If you've read my other blogs, you will notice that we return to this place a lot.  That is because it is easy to get to, has fishing and has a lot of space.  We always see some kind of wild life and never catch any fish which makes it fun.  A long time ago I remember some of the boys catching fish, but none in the last few years.  This time of year the water is so high that its almost impossible to catch something.

It has now been about 6 or 7 months since this campout so my memory is not very good.  The main purpose or focus that they wanted to accomplish was orienteering skills.  Ryan led that part of the training and got all the boys involved with using a compass.  I took a camera and followed them around.  I did end up getting one really good photo of a rainbow over the Teton River.  I later turned it into Outdoor Idaho, the television show, and they published it in their monthly contest.  We had a great time on this campout and luckily it did not rain much.

At night they played some night games, particularly some type of hide and seek.  Quinn and Kason K. tried to hide on top of the trailer but they were so loud that it easily gave them away.  They cooked their own dinners.  Quinn brought a can of chili and I had a tinfoil dinner.

Those that came were Scoutmasters, Ryan and Andrew.   Myself, as a dad, tagging along.  The boys were Quinn, Kason R, Kason K, Alex, Heber, Henry and Blake.
A baby moose kept appearing while we were cooking
